Pretty Pastels

This Spring I think it’s time to wear those beautiful pastel colours.  Pastels go with basically any skin tone and they can make any outfit look so much more feminine and graceful.  Personally I love Mint green.

This is definitely a spring essential!

SPRING!

OMIGOSH!

I am that excited for this spring and all the beauty and fashion that is in stores.

some of my favourite things about Spring is that finally winter is gone, its time to go to the beach wearing those new togs you've wanted to wear all winter and its the time to wear those beautiful dresses again.

Time to put away the winter clothes and bring out the spring and summer season clothes... YAY!

Facebook

Everybody uses facebook, even I do.  It’s a social networking site to socialize with friends or random people.  It shows you what’s going on in people’s lives, whether they missed the bus, bought a new dress, who’s dating who, what’s new in fashion and beauty  or if they just broke up with their boyfriend *sad face L *.   There are some bad sides to facebook. I find that recently there have been pages created for the 50 hottest girls or guys, embarrassing iPhone photos and what not.  Some girls and guys these days are revealing a bit too much about themselves and their body.  A little while ago there was a thing going around called the sneaky hat…  I just think that doing these things will give you a bad reputation.  And people don’t want to see those things on their page.  All I can say is Respect your body and don’t do anything silly

Beauty Pressure

Do you ever feel that pressure of always having to look beautiful?  Yeahh I do.  I don’t have the best complexion in the world but I can deal with it.

Many things these days put pressure on young girls and boys to look their best.  Advertisements always show beautiful models with clear skin, skinny figure and healthy hair.  Guys in movies or adds have abs, are tanned, and muscular.   Advertisements that do these things are the ones that promote having a size c cup or more is best, having a tiny waist and a big rounded shape bum or “booty” is the best look for a girl.  Nothings wrong with having that shape.  I just think Advertisments should vary the body sizes they use so that it doesntmake girls and guys feel bad about themselves.

This is why I love this Dove advertisement called beauty pressure.  It shows that you don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful and that you shouldn’t have to change for anyone.  I really like the quote they used at the end of the video, talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does.

I think this video is very inspiring

Celebrities Influencing Teenagers

Celebrities and models have a major impact on teenager’s lives.  Sometimes it can be that big things get way out of hands. Many young girls and boys turn to their celebrity icons for guidance and advice on day to day life.  Today celebrities are becoming the main role models of the youth. Especially young teenagers, since their life style and photos are in magazines, newspapers, advertisements, movies and T.V shows.  When they try to be like them they can end up choosing good or bad role models.  Some affects from the influence of celebrities or models can be Self esteem issues, physical appearance issues, bad behavior and their attitude can be affected.  In television, magazines and movies, celebrities are frequently portrayed partying, smoking and drinking alcohol. This will influence teens to pick up these bad habits and do the same and because they idolize these celebrities they will think nothing is wrong.  After seeing their favourite celebrity on T.V or in a movie they generally want to copy their look. Most Celebrities maintain a skinny figure, this definitely has an impact on teen’s diets.  They start skipping meals and dieting to lose weight.  However, doing such things without proper guidance can lead to many health issues.

Im not saying every celebrity is a bad influence, there are many beautiful celebrities that are great role models.

Celebrities influence on Fashion good or bad?

Trends and Fashions are everywhere.  They are in clothing stores high and low, They are in fashion magazines, runways and even tabloid magazines.  Celebrities unintentionally start trends, this may be from a fresh haircut or a pair of unseen cut of jeans.  Photographers take heaps of pictures and once the photos have been published, new fashions are born.  2010 was the year for the most change.  Men left baggy jeans and well oversized shirts behind and began wearing fitting pants with high top sneakers.  Even the hairstyles became more unique with different length cuts and facial hair changes.  Women either had ultra long hair extensions or they cut most of their hair off and streaked it with wild colours.  Once the trends are spotted, their influence is spread worldwide.  Ladies went to hair dressers asking for what a certain celebrity now has, with magazine picture in hand while men trade in their cargo pants for skinny jeans and even tighter shirts.  Probably the biggest reason for the fashion influence takeover is that celebrities show their confidence and refusal to follow current trends.  A few of the things you see in clothing stores are from celebrity influence.  They are there and profitable because of the celebrity representation.  They choose to wear or decorate themselves to likely get attention?  Of course the attention can be negative but its seems many believe that any press is good press.  Celebrities and average people have one thing in common: they all want to look nice.

Dove Evolution

An add that has caught my eye is the Dove Evolution.  Basically what they are showing is a Lady going in for a photo shoot, getting her makeup done and hair styled.  Once they believe they have the best look they then take numerous amounts of photos and pick out which photo is the best.  After this process they then use Photoshop to make the picture look “Perfect”.  They fix her eyes to make them look bigger, her lips are edited to look fuller, Skin tone is changed to have a “Sun kissed glow”, her hair is edited to have the appearance of looking longer, her jaw line is edited to look more “Feminine” and they even make her neck longer.  I guarantee most ads use some parts of this process.

Many girls put themselves down saying they are too fat, there complexion isn’t perfect, they aren’t as beautiful as others and that they wish they looked like that girl from the add.  The Media is trying to create natural beauty.  But how can they do that when nothing they use is natural beauty, the photos are being fixed and edited to somehow look better. ? . And they wonder why teenagers these days are becoming fake, when the media is provoking it.

I believe Real Natural beauty is best.  You are perfect the way you are.
